Envent was established in 2007 to explore and develop geothermal steam fields in the Philippines. The company is currently working on several geothermal projects in the country; a project on the island of Biliran is the most advanced.

It is estimated that the Philippines possesses at least 2600 MW of untapped geothermal resources. The government recently announced plans to accelerate the development of new geothermal sources in the country with a goal of an additional 1,200 MW capacity from untapped natural resources over the next 10 years. The acceleration plan is supported by significant governmental incentives such as the recently issued Philippines Renewable Energy Act of 2008. The Act seeks to accelerate the exploration and development of renewable energy resources in the Philippines. For example, it promotes the purchase, grid connection and transmission of electricity generated from renewable energy sources, and provides incentives such as exemption from various taxes and duties to renewable energy developers in the country.
